The grapes were picked in the cool of the early morning, destemmed and lightly crushed. After cold soaking for hours on the skins they were pressed off to cold settling, racked and innoculated with a carefully selected specific yeast to undergo a long, cold ferment to dryness before bottling. More textural than the 2008 Pinot Grigio, but similarly dry and minerally with layers of fruit and spice.

*** ‘ … the 2009 vintage is a distinctive style, pale pink/orange, it is a medium bodied wine (11.8% alcohol) with spicy, slightly earthy aromas and strawberryish, spicy flavours, refreshingly crisp and dry’ – Buyer’s Guide to New Zealand wine, Michael Cooper, 2010.

Optimally ripe, 100% single vineyard, single clone Syrah grapes were destemmed, lightly crushed and cold fermented (12 degrees) to a rich and spicy rose with attitude! Think cherries and cream with a long smooth and spicey finish – but bone dry! Wonderful summer drinking on the deck as the sun goes down and ideally matched with sushi, green-lipped mussels or any fish dishes. Not for faint hearts! One of only two NZ roses with 5 stars in the 2010 edition of the ‘Buyer’s Guide to NZ Wines’ by Michael Cooper -

***** ‘The 2009 vintage is fleshy, dry and rich, with sweet-fruit characters and strong, vibrant berry and spice flavours. It is a serious yet charming wine, already delicious’ - Buyer’s Guide to NZ Wine, Michael Cooper 2010.
