Optimally ripe fruit from our new clones imported from Lyon were made into a rich, medium bodied fruity wine with raspberries, violets, dark chocolate and spice and considerable complexity. A rare but typical young Cabernet Franc wine ideal for sipping on the deck as the sun goes down or with roast lamb or chicken dishes.

Bottled 1st July 2009 and drinking smoothly already! Big bold dry but soft Monte in the style of Abruzzo Riserva, but with less oak. Masses of dark fruit giving the impression of sweetness on the end palate. Will improve with cellaring short or long term if it gets a chance!

The grapes were picked in the cool of the early morning, destemmed and lightly crushed. After cold soaking for hours on the skins they were pressed off to cold settling, racked and innoculated with a carefully chose new yeast to undergo a long, cold ferment to dryness before bottling. More textural than the 2008 Pinot grigio, but similarly dry and minerally with layers of fruit and spicey notes.
